PERSONAL LEARNING PHILOSOPHY
Learning is the Prize
This artifact exemplifies my Personal Learning Philosophy because it speaks to how the mind is like a muscle and learning is about applying a growth mindset to strengthen this muscle. As a student, my own motivation to learn and grow is critical to my development and success throughout the BBA program.

As a learner I take full responsibility to come prepared to classes and to engage in active listening by contributing to the class discussion. With a high preference for Type One learning, I am imaginative and have a natural curiosity to learn and absorbing new knowledge which has helped me personalize my learning experience. Regardless of the course, I find a way to connect it back to my personal growth and development so that I am motivated to learn. The onus is on me to make that connection and I do that by relating the course to the undergraduate competencies that I have decided to develop. For my own development as a learner, I will place more focus on quadrant four of the LTM by pushing myself to learn more through trial and error and experimentation. This approach will allow me to become more comfortable with ambiguity over time and to take more risks as a learner.

As a Type One Learner, I think that my classmates and team members have a great influence on my learning environment and how I learn. I enjoy listening to other people’s perspectives and the diversity of opinions allows me to question my assumptions and beliefs and to understand theories and concepts better. That being said, it is important that the people I interact with show the same enthusiasm to learn and take an active role as opposed to being indifferent or detached in the classroom or in team work. I also like to foster open communication with those that I work with to avoid any miscommunication that could hinder our learning experience. A fair environment where everyone gets an equal opportunity to lead and take ownership of their work is something that energizes me. This mirrors my personal interest in diversity in embracing and welcoming different perspectives. I am more interested in learning how to collaborate and communicate effectively with others than just getting the project done and that is the growth mindset I hope to strengthen in the next four years.
